BOARD OF AGRICULTURE.
RESOLUTIONS CARRIED. Pei- Press Association. WELLINGTON, June 19. At a meeting of tho Board of Agriculture the proposed regulations regarding ticks on cattle were considered, and it was decided to recommend that no stock bo shipped from the North Island to the South Island unless they haio been examined by an inspector and declared to bo free from the tick infestation. After discussion of tho method under which contributions are levied from farmers under the Rabbit Nuisance I was decided to recoin mend to tho Government that tile contribution bo a rate per acre instead of on rateable value. It was decided to recommend the Government to amend the law relating to rabbit-proof fences, so that in any district which a magistrate, after hearing evidence, might declare to be a rabbit-infested district, any owner or occupier who wished to protect himself should be able to compel his neighbour to pay half the cost. A resolution was tarried urging on tho Government the necessity for bringing in an amendment to the present law compelling tho eradication of blackberry on the bettor private land. It was'pointed out that the provision regmlmg cutting blackberry contained in the Noxious Weeds Act, 1903, really rendered any attempt to compel tho destruction of blackberry by legal enforcement absolutely nugatory. Tho question of the export of stud stock from the Dominion to South America was brought before tho Board, and it was decided to ascertain tho prospects of tho steamer service to the Argentine, in order that the shipping of stock might be resumed as early us possible.
