A REAL NIGHTMARE.
TAXI DRIVER RUNS AMUCK. In the Batignolles quarter of Paris there has been a scene on the lines of popular cinematograph adventures which created a panic. "While returning to his garage, a .young taxi-driver went to sleep on his car, which_dashod into a street market and knocked down a dozen stands, making an awful mess of vegetables, eggs, fruit, and the like. Awaking immediately, he stopped his machine, he was surrounded by an angry crowd of market people, who pelted him with potatoes. He received one in his eyqi, whereupon he drew a. revolver and fired several shots, 'wounding three of his assailants. A panic ensued, and ho started his machine at full speed. Two American soldiers in a motor-lorry started in pursuit, chasing the taxi for about a mile. 'When they caught it they found that the chauffeur had gone to sleep again. He was taken to a hospital, but it was impossible to wake him. It was an hour before he awoke, and he then declared that he thought ho had had a most dreadful nightmare.
