SOLDIERS’ FIANCEES.

ASSISTED PASSAGES: Per Press Association. WELLINGTON. June 18. The Government has decided to make substantial concessions to assist soldiers who are bringing their fiancees from England. These immigrants will not be assisted to the extent of soldiers’ wives, but the Government subsidy represents a reduction of £2O on the passage, bringing it within the range of soldiers who _ might otherwise have difficulty in making arrangements at the current rates of passage for ordinary travellers. First and second classi rates for soldiers’ wives apply only to offi cers and non-commissioned officers holding the rank of sergeant or higher.
