FOOD PRICES IN BRITAIN
REGULATION TO BE CONTINUED. MENACE OF MEAT TRUST. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. (Received June 18, 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, June 17. Mr. M‘Curdy, for the Ministry of Food, announces that owing to the expectation of a further rise in food prices next winter, the Government is considering the resumption of national or inter-Allied purchases of essential foodstuffs to stabilise prices and abolish speculative buyers. The rapid multiplication of trusts to maintain high prices is proceeding at an alarming rate. The American Meat Trust’s growing power and its control of the world’s meat prices is causing the Government uneasiness.—Aus.-N.Z'. Cable Assn.
