A large crowd stormed a negroes’ coffee shop at the East End of London and many were badly maltreated. The police rescued several negroes. The disturbance follows serious demonstrations in Liverpool and Cardiff against coloured men, as a protest against their association with white girls. Several, including soldiers, have been killed in riots during the past few days and much damage has been done.

OFFER OP SHIPS. FOR NEW ZEALAND NAVY. PARIS, June 6. The Admiralty has offered Mr. Massey practically free choice of ships with which to start a navy, and Mr. Massey has accepted, subject to the approval of Parliament, the latest type of light cruiser. Until facilities for oil burning ships are provided in New Zealand the Admiralty will lend the Dominion a coal-burning cruiser similar to tho Sydney. The Admiralty is also presenting New Zealand with a training-ship. Smaller British warships will be stationed in New 7 Zealand as part of the China station fleet. —United Service.
