A CHARGE OF THEFT. Per Press Association. PALMERSTON N., June 13. Elizabeth Jean Rose Conrad and Emily Ethel Conrad, sisters, were arrested on the Auckland express train at Palmerston yesterday on a charge of stealing £GD 10s, the property of Joe Gett, Wellington. Accused were remanded to Wellington . BEEKEEPERS’ CONFERENCE. WELLINGTON, June 13. At the Beekeepers’ Conference it was resolved that all apiaries bo registered annually, and that provision bo made for the enforcing of a substantial penalty for failure to register. It was decided that a deputation wait on the Minister of Railways to draw attention to the unfair handicap placed on the industry by the present freight charged; and ask him that honey be placed m a schedule not higher than butter; It was also resolved that the penaltv for breaches of the Apiaries Act bo increased, the maximum penalty to be raised to £2O. Tlie conference concluded to-day. The officers were elected as follows; President, Mr. J. Allen; vice-presi-dent, Mr. W. Watson; executive, Messrs. A. H. Davis, J. D. Adams, B. C. Knight, J. Cotterell, and B. H. Penny; secretary and editor of the Journal, Mr F. C. Baines.
