GISBORNE MEETING. Per Press Associati in. GISBORNE, June 12. The Gisborne Racing Club’s steeplechase meeting opened to-day in ideal summer weather. The course was in almost perfect condition. The totalisator investments were £16,987, as compared with £13,306 for the corresponding day of last year. There were two inquiries during the day. After hearing the evidence of alleged bumping of Bjorneborg in tlie Park Hurdles, the explanation was accepted that the bump was accidental. In connection with the mishap to Yankee Land and Orawia in the Plying Handicap, B. JDecley, the rider of Actifid,. was fined £5 for careless riding. Results: — Park Hurdles. —2 Multive (Lorrigan) 1, 1 Cynic 2, 3 Bjorneborg 3. The only starters. Won by a head, the third horse nine lengths away. Time, 3min. 51 l-sseo.

Maiden Hack Handicap.—l Demonstrate (R, Reid) 1, 4 Glengylc 2,2 Anita 3. Also started: 10 Mullnilla, 9 Pavilion, 13 Rotata, 6 Mountain Eagle, II Lightlied, 8 Nick’s Head (carried 4111). overweight), 12 Hukewhaka, 3 Boggitts, 7 Persian King, 14 Stoker, 5 Prince Jewel, 15 Prince Randal. Rcrekohu was remounted and’finished third, a long distance back.
