TUKAPA (II) v. STAR (3).
Tho Tukapa juniors met the Star juniors on the Recreation Ground on Thursday afternoon. From the outset it was seen that the Tukapa team had superiority in the front ranks, in fact the Tukapa team was fit to meet any senior teams in Taranaki. Star kicked off and in a very short time play was confined to their 25. Numerous scrums took place in Star territory, and on each occasion the weight of the Tukapa forwards told severely. Hooker, who had been playing a good game, secured the ball, and with a strong dodgy run managed to evade the Star backs and secured a try. Ollivcr took the kick and converted. From this slight reverse Star made a desperate effort to even things up and carried tho ball te Tukapa territory, and on more than one occasion had the appearance of scoring. Tukapa with a magnificimt dribbling rush carried play ta Star’s lino, whore Hooker secured another try, right betwen tlie posts. Oil Ivor’s kick failed. Soon afterwards Olliver added throe more points to Tukapa’s score by converting from a penalty. The whistle sounded with tho score if to nil. Tho second spell opened quite in favour of Star, who played with determination. and dash, their backs playing a capital game. Falwasser managed to cross Tukapa’s line, but no goal resulted. From this on a new plaver on the field, Broughton, who had replaced Falconer, who received a slight mishap, proved a tower of strength to Star, and at times showed a fair turn of speed. The game ended by Tukapa leading by eight points. Mr. F. Roberts acted as referee and gave entire satisfaction.
