AUSTRALIAN ARMY.
PROGRESS OF DEMOBILISATION,
By Telegraph—Press Assn,—Copyright. LONDON, June 24. The first party of Australian machinegunners, numbering 30, have gone to Murmansk. All had been demobilised. Their only connection with Australia is the right to use the uniform. Sixty others, who are joining the infantry force, will not even be permitted to retain the uniform or draw allowances on the Australian basis when they join up with the British contingent. LONDON, June 4.
Mr. Pearce states that the great bulk of Australian troops, apart from those at the depots and administration, should sail in the first or second week of July, if the Ministry of Shipping’s promises materialise. The depots and camps will then he closed. The A.I.F. should be demobilised in England and France at the end of September. The other outstanding questions are the settlement of accounts with the War Office, and the provision of material for the Australian Army, including avia-tion.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
