SCHOOL COMMITTEES ASSOCIATION.
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE,
A meeting of Iho executive of the Sc bool Committees’ Association was held in tho Technical College on Monday night, when there were present: Messrs. S. G. Smith, M.P. (chairman), G. H. Dolby, J. Garcia, W. G. Reid (secretary), and J. B. Simpson (Moa). Apologies wore received from Messrs. A. Lister (Frankloy) and R. S. Sago (i lawera). Remits for the annual conference were received from the Ncwall Road and Egmont Association, and it was resolved that tho arranging of remits be left in the hands of the chairman and Mr. Dolby. At the last meeting of the executive a petition was received from settlers in the Durham Road district asking the executive tn assist in having the regulation reinstated so that children on Durham Road East and Durham Road IVcst and' on the Mountain Road north of Durham Hoad should be permitted to travel free on tho train to Norfolk Road School, ns formerly. The executive asked that a. plan should be submitted. This was submitted by .Mr. Simpson on Monday night, and it was resolved that the question be referred to the chairman.
The Minister of Education (the Hon. J. A. Hamm) forwarded, replies to remits passed at last conference, stating, inter alia, that no general desire had been expressed for the payment of an honorarium to each chairman of an edu. cation board and substantial reasons for this payment would have to bo submitted before it was likely that Parliament would approve of the payment of an honorarium.
