BRIGADIER-GENERAL RICHARDSON.
GREAT RECEPTION AT DUNEDIN. DUNEDIN, May 23. Brigadier-General Richardson arrived here hist evening, and was accorded a royal reception. Ho was loudly cheered ar. the station, and passed through the ranks of returned men to a carriage drawn by six artillery horses and driven to the Otago Club, when another enthusiastic reception awaited him. Ho was carried shoulder high, and the crowd would not be satisfied until ho had given them a short address and promised to speak more fully to a gathering of returned men.
To an Otago Times reporter, General Richardson had something to say about the necessity for continuing territorialtraining on the. lines suggested by the, experience of the war. On the repatriation problem. General Richardson expressed the opinion that the Government would have to buy up small sections, erect houses, and start men in such occupations as poultry fanning. He also suggested the establishment in each district of a small bureau where men could get information as to how to settle down. His advice to the returned man was “Get into plain clothes as quickly as possible and get hack to work.”' ’ He appealed to tIA public for forgiveness for small delinquencies on the part of men just returned. The public should try to realise its indebtedness to the soldier. “Don’t offer him charity. Clive him a chance to earn a living.” Especially is 'hat the ca.se with the disabled man.”
