“To discontinue advertising,” says ex-Postmaster-General John Wanan.aker (one of the largest advertisers in the world, and naturally enough, one of the most successful business men), “is liko taking down your sign. If you want to do business you 'must let people know it. 1 would as soon think of doing business without clerks as without advertising.” John Wanamaker made the statement that “Advertisement doesn’t jerk, it pulls.” Yet some men think that advertising should go against all rules and precedents and jerk them to success with one tremendous yank.
