PROPOSED CLUB AT ELTHAM

A meeting of those favourable to the formation of a racing club at Eltham was held on Monday evening,#when there was a very .satisfactory attendance. Tho chair was occupied by the mayor (Mr. G. W. Taylor), who ex-' pressed tiro opinion that there should not be the slightest difficulty, in forming a club in Eltham. With a membership of 150, which was practically assured, the club should prove a success. There were suitable grounds in the district, .which wore available, but perhaps in the meantime arrangements could bo made with the Stratford Club for the use of their course.

Mr. j. Campbell thought the chief difficulty Would bo to secure a permit, hut smaller towns than Eitham had their permit, and they might try their luck. 1

Air. W. J. Tristram strongly favoured the formation of a chib. Taranaki was a sporting province. He moved “That it is desirable to form a racing clnh in Eitham, and a committee of five be set up to arrange preliminaries and report to a future, meeting.” The motion was carried.

Messrs G AY Tayler, J S Brisco. A. B. Smalley, J. Campbell, and AV. J. Tristram were elected as a committee, who were instructed to report their deliberations to a future meeting. Fiftytwo members were elected.
