Soldiers awaiting embarkation to England, including those from Mesopotamia, will remain in India in view of the present situation. Advices from Calcutta state that passive resistance demonstrations by Alarwars culminated in serious noting in the Indian quarter. Several Europeans were assaulted and officers injured. The military were called out and fired, causing a dozen casualties, and order was restored. A mob at Gurgwala, Punjab, attacked a train and wrecked a station. An aeroplane bombed the crowds. The unrest continues. At Lahore the rioters, after killing 'five Europeans and looting the banks, burnt the buildings and the mission church depot for the Punjab was also destroyed.
