K. Mor-i rison and Mr. H. L. Young. PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES. The ceremony of presenting tha( trophies as presided over on Tuesday* afternoon by the club’s Patron (Sir. C. H. Burgess), who rej ferred to the fact that the President of the club (Dr. E. A. Walker) waa unable to be present on account of hia serious illness. Dr. Walker had been’ a very good friend to the club, espedLally in tire early days of its existence,, and,- the speaker continued, he wad sure all the members and also thej visitors—to most of whom Dr. Walked was known—hoped that by this time, % next year Dr. Walker would be restored to health and able to conduct the ceremony. Mr. Burgess said he was glad that the war was over and people were now able to enter into golf and other sports without feeling that they ought not to. The Newt Plymouth Golf Club had suffered in membership in tire past four years as much as any institution, and this waa a thing to be proud of, as showing that, the young men who were golfers had done their duty. He expressed pleasure at seeing so many visitors present, including some who had taken part in the tournament ever since its inception. He had not played over the course for. three and aihalf years, hut he knew it was in good order and that it waq the intention of the club to make their links as good as the best, if not better,- N and thus encourage golfers to coma her© at Easter and at other times.. The trophies were then, presented toi the winners by Mrs. Rohertshaw. Mr. Young, the winner of the champoinship, congratulated the club upoq . the manner in which the tournament had been conducted and returned, thanks on behalf of the visitors for tha hospitality extended to- them. Mr. II 7 . H. Rohertshaw, the captain,, expressed the thanks which were dud to the lady members and others who had waited at the luncheon tables and provided the afternoon tea on the three days of the tournament. The tournament was in every way most successful and equal to the best the club had held. The tournament committee had made very complete ar-t rangements, and Mr, J. Paton, ad tournament secretary was an indefatigable worker, and the duties of hid position were unselfishly and efficiently carried out. The club as a whole mush be congratulated’ upon the success of the tournament. A silver watch was found on the course on Tuesday, and also a visiting player lost a mashie head. WELLINGTON CHAMPIONSHIP.
For the Wellington Provincial Amateur Championship, played at Heretaruiga, A. Duncan meets G. Richmond in the final. In the semi-finals Bich| irond defeated B. L. Taylor at thg 20th hole. CANTERBURY CHAMPIONSHIP. H. B. Lusk won the amateur golfing championship of Canterbury with q score of 175. B. B. Wood was runner: rip with 177.
