KAIMIRO.
FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT. April IS,—Last Wednesday night a social was held in the hall to bid tarewell to Mrs. M. i‘. .Paterson and Miss O. Paterson. There was a largo attendance of friends. Sirs. Paterson has been farming here lor 27 years, and during that time has seen great changes in the district. She its going to reside in Inglewood, having leased her farm. During the evening, Mr. Harry Peters, on behalf of the Ibdies’ committee, mads a presentation to Mrs. Paterson and her daughter ,and in doing so said that they were all sorry that Sirs. I Paterson was leaving after such a long I residence and where she had made so I many friends. But after all these years of strenuous work she would no : doubt appreciate quiet and rest. He would, on behalf of her many friends, j wish Her long life, good health anti i contentment in her new home. Ho also had been asked to present Mrs. Paterson with a travelling rug, a silver teapot, and a lady’s handbag, and to Miss Paterson a indy’s handbag. He hoped that Mrs. Paterson and Miss Paterson would accept these articles as | a remembrance of their residence in Ivaimiro. Miss Paterson, in returning thanks, said she first wished to thank their friends for the many kindnesses that I her mother and self had received in | Kaindro, and for the kind'remarks that | had been made. She also thanked them for tho valuable presents made them, whieh would ho greatly treasured. As for herself she could never forget Kaimiro where she had been born and lived all her life. (Applause). The ladies’ committee (Mrs. A. IT. Taylor, Mrs. O. Peters, and Mrs.- J. Lilly) deserve a, word of praise for the way the hall was decorated and supper | arrangements were carried out. First class music was supplied by the Misses Ida and Hilda Allemnn and Mr. J. Lilly, talr. A. If. Taylor made a very efficient M.C. In fact, a very enjoyable evening was Spent. Corporal N. P. Gibson has returned from tho front after about three years’ i service. He came by the Willoehra. j His brother Lance is also expected to j return shortly; both wont away to- ! gether. ! There must have been a large number I of visitors to the Mountain House to--1 day. About 20 cars passed through | here beside? other vehicles. | Weather: Tlaiu and eloucly. Wind: j Strong breeze south-west.
