SINN FEIN. LIKELY TO SWEEP IRELAND. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright (Received Dec. 2, 8.55 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 29. -The Times Dublin correspondent says that 31 Nationalists have declined nominations for the elections. The Sinn Eeiners have secured walk-overs in the counties of Derry and Cork. It is rumoured' that if the Sinn Eeiners imprisoned in England should be released the majority will be nominated lor Irish constituencies.^—Times. POSITION OF LABOURITES. ■ PUNISHMENT OF GERMANS. LONDON, Nov. 29. The Pontefract Miners’ Federation has adopted Mr. John Bums as a candidate., Mr. John Hodge (Pensions Minister) referred his position as a Minister to the Union of Steel Smelt‘ers, whose executive asked him to quit the Government. I Meetings have been', held in many towns denouncing the treatment of prisoners in enemy countries, and demanding the punishment of the guilty, also the repatriation of enemy aliens and the prohibition of immigration from enemy countries. Mr. Chamberlain stated that the Government and the Allies were considering .the position of the ex-Kaiser and the Crown Prince. The Peace Conference will have the final decision. There is no indemnity too high for Germany. An indemnity had to be paid, but some of it might have to be paid in. goods. At East Fife the Coalitionists oppose Mr. Asquith, mainly on the question of free trade and Home Rule.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn. THE SOLDIERS’ VOTE. London, Nov. 28.
