Nov. ,29Tbe brought about by the epidemic, particularly in regard to the existence of slum areas and the prevalence of grossly insanitary conditions in certain quarters of the city, were discussed by the City Council last evening. Reports were presented hy the Mayor, city engineer, chief sanitary inspector, and-city .solicitox*. As the result of recommendations hy the Mayor, the council at its next meeting will consider a proposal to embark on a progressive housing policy, for which purpose a loan of £250,000 is proposed, to increase the number of sanitary inspectors, and obtain wider powers under the Public Health Aot. . i
