INGLEWOOD.
FROM OPR OWN CORRESPONDENT. August 23.—There was a large attendance .at tho Kaimata Rod Cross dance last night. Quite a number of cars wont out from Inglewood. There were some very fine costumes worn. No doubt your Kaiiuata correspondent will supply you with all details. The prize for host lady’s costume was won by Miss Miller (sailor lass), while Mr. B. Burkhardt (swagger) carried oft tho gentleman’s prize. About thirty ladies attended a “hook afternoon” , given by Mesdames Chis. Hamerton. Harrison and Horner at Mrs. C. Harnerton’s residence this afternoon. Tho afternoon was given as a farewell to Mrs. G. Hobbs, who. is leaving this district to reside in Hawera, Mrs. Hobbs has been a great helper in church and patriotic functions, where her artistic abilities were very much in request. Mrs. L .A. Hamerton, in a very nice speech, voiced the regret of her friends at losing her, and presented her on their behalf with a handsome hag. Mrs. Hobbs suitably responded, Mrs. F. Brown and Mrs. Winfield tied for the prize, and in tho draw which followed Sirs. Winfield was successful. Inglewood will he well represented at the returned soldiers’ hall in New Plymouth to-night.
