A BRITISH CAPTAIN. PRISONER ON A U-BOAT. (Received August 17, 8.25 a.m.) NEW YORK, August 16. Captain David Evans, of the British steamer Penistone, which was torpedoed and sunk, was held prisoner on the Üboat. The survivors landed exhausted, barely able to speak. During the last few days 100 corpses of German sailors were washed ashore on the west coast of Jutland. Most of them had been in the water only a few days, while some were from the torpedo boat A 79, blown up in January near the Dogger Bank. —Press Association.
