INGLEWOOD.

FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT. ; July 26. —The “welcome home” social at Kaimata last night was a huge success the hall being packed. Visitors wore present from Stratford, New Plymouth, Inglewood and as far out as Purangi. There were six car loads from Inglewood. The M.C.’s were Messrs. G. Peters and L. Booock, The Mayor of Inglewood gave a short address eulogising the courage of the young men and the services they had rendered their country. He also on behalf of Kaimata residents presented Sergeant Capper and Private Bracegirdle each with a gold medal ihsoribed with name and “Kaimata, for services 1014-1918.” The annual meeting of the Inglewood Defence Rifle Club was held this week. The report and statement of receipts and expenditure showed the club to be financially sound. Mr. G. Taylor tendered his resignation as president and Rifleman E. Crossman was elected in his place. Mr. S. 0. Spurdle was reelected vice-president, and Mr. R. J. Frewin secretary and treasurer. The committee consists of Riflemen Taylor, Robinson, Martin, and officers exofficio. Rifleman Marlin was elected target inspector and Mr. G. Lamb reelected club iiandicapper. The club fired eight matches during the year against outside clubs, Inglewood winning four. Mr. 0. List has purchased Mr. J. Roberts’s tailoring business. Mr. Roberts has boon in indifferent health lately hence his reason for soiling. I understand Mr. Roberts is leaving Inglewood. He will bo much missed as ho is a pillar of Presbyterian church and a much loved teacher in the Bible Class. A young man named Albert Longman, Rugby Road, had his left hand badly cut while using a circular saw. He was motored to Inglewood where he received medical attention and was then taken to the New Plymouth hospital. The poles for the telephone line from Waitui to Inglewood arc now all in, and wiring operations have started so it will not belong before communication will be complete.
