PARKS AND PLEASURE RESORTS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—l read with interest your leader in Thursday’ night’s issue on the above subjects. I am entirely jn accord with your views, and feel sure when this attractive and healthful district is advertised in Australia there will be an influx of tourists from that country’. A modern steamship with a speed of a little over 16 knots will land passengers from Sydney to New Plymouth in three days. Now that the Harbour hoard have before them a- scheme of extension and harbour improvements, as soon as it is known that the harbour is accessible in all weathers and all states of the tide, we shall not have to beg steamship companies to make this tho’ first port of call, they will themselves see tho advantages, and it will come naturally. The track between New Plymouth and- Sydney Heads is an ideal one for a passenger and mail service—one straight course and no off-lying dangers from either port.—l am, etc., . MERYTA.
