WAITARA WEST ROAD BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. (From Our Lepperton Correspondent.) Feb. 3.—The monthly meeting of the Waitara West Road Board took place to-day. There were present: Messrs. Lopper (chairman), Turnbull, Surrey, Cope-stake and Digging. , ~ CoiTGspondojiee was received from tho Moa Rond Board re Everet Road.—Resolved that settlers on this road bo written to with regard to noxious weeds growing thereon. A petition was received signed by a number of settlers as to wandering stock, and asking tho hoard to take immediate steps to abate the same. Members expressed sympathy and decided to call applications for a ranger, in the meantime tho surfacemen have been requested to keep a sharp look out, when any offenders will bo prosecuted. A warning to this effect will 'appear in both New Plymouth papers, ,so that there should he no excuse to offenders. Tho question of a number of sections on the Waitara Borough boundary which are said to lie exempt from rates to this board, wa-s brought up. After discussing the matter at some length, it was decided to see, if the Taranaki County Council could enlighten tho board at all. .It was decided to warn settlers that the Maugawera bridge is unsafe for a load exceedifig .one ton. It was also decided to obtain expert advice with regard to repairs. Members were also of opinion that all the bridges in the Riding should be inspected and reported on, and it was decided to do so. Tlie clerk (Mr. Gilraour) tendered his. resignation owing to pressure of business. Mr. Gilmonr expressed regret at having to do so, his association with the hoard having been most happy. The fact was his absence from New Plymouth in attending meetings was most inconvenient.' Members however were not in a mood for a new clerk, and decided to meet the case by holding their meetings .in Now Plymouth - in the future at the office of Messrs. 611mour and,Clarke, Egmont Street, on the first Saturday in the month at 1 p.m. Surfaceman Harvey and Palmer were engaged during the month on metalling and general work.

Accounts amounting to £76 were passed for payment.
