The Ageuzie Liberalo’s Berne correspondent states that 22 Gorman submarines wore missing m December. The Gorman Admiralty view the Allies submarine counter-measures alarm, as do naval circles. Iho Admiralty has issued a statement that most of the missing submarines were sent to distant waters, and that hope has not been abandoned.

A DANGER SPOT.

LONDON, Jan. 23. In the House of Commons Mr. R. P. Houston asked several questions regarding suhmarinmgs. Air. I. JM’Namara (Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty) admitted that a refrigerated steamer was lost on Januaiy 20, at the same place and as a steamer that was torpedoed on Christmas day. Tho refrigerated steamci was unescorted. Mr. Houston asked whether, seeing the largo number of steamers that had been sunk at this spot, tho Admiralty would; alter tho instructions whereby shipmasters fall right into the submarine post. Air. Houston elicited the fact that two steamers from Liverpool and Waterford were lost with all hands on December 15 and 17, part of a boat being washed up. Mr. Hogge asked whether a large number of children were lost. Dr. M'Namara: "1 cannot say.”

Mr. Houston asked' whether a vessel was sunk at the mouth of the Mersey with the loss of 43 lives, of whom 19 were pilots. 1 Dr. M'Namara said the vessel was joined. Two were saved, out of 43 on board. TWO VESSELS LOST. LONDON, Jan, 23. Dr. T. J. M'Namara, speaking in the House of Commons, said two Mips had been torpedoed in the Mediterranean, the loss of life being 484 in the case of one of the ships and 224 in the other. A SWEDISH PROTEST. STOCKHOLM, Jan. 23. Sweden has protested to Germany over the seizure of the steamer Luna, proceeding to Gothenburg with a cargo of sugar.
