MATRICULATION EXAMINATION.
NEW REGULATIONS. ( J?SR PRESS ASSCWAIiON. WELLINGTON, Jan. 24. The University Senate resolved that the following be added to the regulations for the matriculation examination :—A candidate of mature years may pass tho matriculation examination in two sections. Two of more subjects shall constitute a section, and tho remaining subjects shall constitute the second'section. That tho two senior scholarships no longer awarded specially for mathematics and physics respectively shall in future be awarded to such candidates in whatever subject as may seen to tho Senate most deserving. The report by the Entrance Examination Committee was explained by Professor Scgar and Dr. Anderson. It makes a science compulsory in matriculation on all candidates taking the minimum number of subjects, with the proviso that by taking extra a candidate may escape science. The report as a whole was referred back to the committee, to consider tho amendment by Mr. Tibbs to the effect that candidates for matriculation might take physics and chemistry^
