' The annual Labour Party conference at "Nottingham on the 23rd inst. mil be one of the most important in history. There will be a thousand delegates. The agenda includes a resolution withdrawing from the Government. Another demands an early election. A strong pro-war tone is assured. Mr. Arthur Henderson has circularised the Labour delegates at Nottingham, setting forth the war aims whereon the British - Labour, in his view, should insist, if it is to supply the Government with the half a million more nien now demanded. These aims include the repudiation of annexations and indemnities, post-war trade boycotts, and any sort of militarism settlement, but demand reparation for the wrongs of nations and individuals. Labour stands to-day, as always, for absolute freedom and integrity for Belgium, Serbia, Montenegro and Roumania, and for the- establishment of a league of Nations and international disarmament. GERMAN PRISONERS FOR FARM WORK. LONDON, Jan. 22. The Manchester Guardian states the authorities are bringing German prisoners from Franee to work on farins in the south of England. As previous experiments have been successful, farmers have given up their prejudices against the employment of prisoners. The latter are keen on the work." THE GALLIPOLI MEDAL. LONDON, Jan. 23. In the House of Commons, replying to Mr. Leslie Wilson, Mr. M‘Pherson stated that the Imperial and Dominion Governments were sympathetically conbidering the question of issuing a. medal or decoration to the troops participating in the at Gallipoli, but no decision had yet been reached. The question was extremely difficult, involving a good deal of interviewing and correspondence with the governments concerned- i BOLSHEVIK PROPAGANDA. NOT APPRECIATED IN ENGLAND. Sir George Cave,' replying to Mr. Trevelyan, said that the police raided the premises of the British Socialist Party and seized leaflets intended for "distribution at the Labour Conference at Nottingham containing the party views of Labour’s policy, and a message from Litoinoft, Bolshevik representative in London. The leaflet contained statements calculated to lead to civil strife, and gross misrepresentation of the Government's attitude to the Russian people. The Government was considering a prosecution. He denied that a person claiming to represent a foreign Government was at liberty to engage in propaganda in this country. BOLSHEVIK MINISTER.' TALKS BIG IN LONDON.
