Sinn Feiners distributed leaflets at church doors stating that Ireland had .decided to petition the nations of the world in favour of independence. It stated that the Sinn Foiners will hold a plebiscite of the people in Ireland over eighteen years on the question of independence. STRICTER MEASURES. TO PUNISH PROFITEERS. The rivers have risen alarmingly and thousands of acres are under water. Much damage has been done in South Wales, Devonshire, Warwickshire, and Buckinghamshire. Many towns in Huntingdonshire are isolated. The thaw revealed’ 4500 burst waterpipes in New-castle-on-Tyne.
