On the suggestion of the chairman, it was decided to provide material for a fence at Lower Mnngorei School, providing the labour is found by the school committee. _ . Tho chairman and Mr. Tyimbie were appointed to report on the overcrowding of tho Inglewood School. _ _ Various requests for repairs and improvements at Rowan, Hurimoana, York, AVaibi, and Multilist, were referred to tho overseer. The matter of site at Ohura and Upper Ohura was referred to the chairmThe Waitaanga Committee will ho informed that the hoard will agree to rent the Mechanics’ Hall at a rental ot 5s per week as from September 1, subject to the department’s approval. In reference to the rental of a hall at Hauurua, the overseer will prepare plans for a suitable building to he submitted to the settlors. The Okato Committee’s application for additional land was referred to Messrs. Trimble, Smith, and White to report on. , On the motion of Messrs. Dixon and Trimble, the chairman was authorised to make temporary arrangements for the appointment of a truant inspector to give special attention to the technical schools. . . The Mangatoki Committee will be informed tlirit the hoard has no objection to the committee insuring the teacher against accident provided the premium is not paid out of the_ allowance paid by tho Board for incidental expenses. ' It was decided that the overseer should proceed with the erection of tho school at Mount Messenger, provided the Department undertakes to pay any amount the building may cost in excess of the estimate. An application for the conveyance ot children to the Manaia School was referred to tho chairman. Air. Dixon will report on a. request from the Mangamingi Committee for permission to set aside a portion of the school grounds for a horse paddock and the teacher’s private use. The chairman and Mr. White were appointed to confer with the AVaitara School Committee concerning the question of a site for tho AVaitara manual building. _ The secretary of tho Pukengnhu School Committee wr.oto extending, the thanks of tho committee for the kindly way in which their interests were furthered in the matter of tho new school, which they considered was complete, suitable in every respect, and a credit to the district. They also desired to record the courteous treatment received from the overseer (Air. Afoorc). Tho secretary was instructed to secure information as to tho number of Alexandra school hooks held in stock by the booksellers of tho province, and also the number likely to arrive hero before tho end of tho year. A return is to ho prepared by the secretary of tho teachers liable to he called in the Second Division, giving the age, number in family, and present position of each teacher. A motion of thanks was passed to Air. AA r . T. Jennings, ALP., for his efforts with regard to metalling the road to tho Awakino school site. The' piatter of purchasing an addition to’tho site at Tatara imaka was referred to Messrs. Trimble, Smith and AA 7 hitc.
