August 9.—ln addition to the names published in my notes yesterday, Miss Ruby Hunter, of Uronui (Convent) was successful in passing the recent examination in rudiments of music of the associated board. At a special meeting of the borough council on Tuesday evening it was decided to advertise for a successor to the present acting town clerk, who had resigned. The past day or two of dry searching wind is having its effect on the roads .and land, and farmers are-begin ning-to neb-a, ntoye-xm.
