A very interesting display is made in the window of Mr. C. E. Baker’s shop in Devon Street that conveys some idea of the work of the New Plymouth Women’s Patriotic League. It consists of the hold-alls made by these ladies during the past month for presentation to the recruits leaving here next Wednesday. Half of the funds collected by the Pierrots next Saturday will be used for the carrying on of this good work. Lovers of the' Holstein breed should make a point of attending Mr. Newton King’s Stony River sale on Tuesday next, when a very choice line of threeyear Holstein springing heifers will be sold in lots. These cattle are good, and should attract considerable attention.
