RUN OVER BY A TRAM. PEE PRESS ASSOCIATION. AVELLINGTON, Feb. (23. A little boy, aged six, named Stanley Davis, was rim over by a tram, and so badly injured that his left arm and right leg had to be amputated at the hospital. His condition is critical. FALL FRO AI A TRAAICAR. AVELLINGTON, Fob. 25. A man named Claude Harrison Sutton fell off a tramcar in Alnuners Street last night and • had both legs badly crushed and broken. He was standing on the step of the car, evidently with the intention of alighting at the next corner, but somehow he slipped and was dragged along for ahdistance, suffering terrible injuries to his legs. He was removed to the hospital. His condition is critical. RAILWAY FIREMAN CRUSHED. AVELLINGTON, Fob. 25. A railway fireman, named George Henry Sheary, had his right thigh broken at the Upper Hntt on Saturday through being crushed between an engine and - the station platform. DROAVNED IN A AVATER RACE. ASHBURTON, Feb. 26. AVillam Henry' MlKee, a single man aged 33 years, was found dead in a water race on Alford Forest road early in tho morning. He }iad been riding a bicycle and fallen off and been drowned. When discovered his head was in the race and his feet on a culvert. SURF-BATHING FATALITY. AVAIHI, Feb. 26. ’ ’William Patten, aged 32, was accidentally drowned yesterday while surfbathing at AVaihi beach. A party of four, including young women, got into difficulties and big quick successive rollers and a strong ebb tide rendered rescue difficult. Three were got out by the aid of a life-line, hut Patten, after a long struggle, finally disappeared 300 yards from shore. Deceased came from Australia and was a widower with three young children living at Ballarat.
