The maiden speech at Dublin of the new Irish Secretary, ME H. B. Duke, created an excellent effect. He indicated that the Government would assist the municipality in re-building the slum areas for re-housing 31,000 families, at a cost of three and a half millions. The social conditions in Dublin fostered. Sum Feinism. , Ireland’s revenue had risen from H millions to 18 millions during the war, so that instead of Ireland coating the Exchequer two millions she was now contributing £5,300,000 years for wan purposes.
