A cable was received this week from Lieut. Ncvile Arden from Matruh containing just the one word “Well.” A Sydney cable says that Trooper Dunn, who recovered his speech, is a son of the late Rev. T. H. Dunn, formerly of Auckland. Air. H. Stocker has been appointed by the Controller and Auditor-General to audit the Taranaki Herald and Budget Patriotic, National and Belgian Knuds.

Tlie six medical officers who will embark with tlie Third and Fourth Battalions'of the New Zealand Rifle Brigade are as follows: —Lieut.-Colonel Hnrdie Neil, Captains A. A. Martin, A. M‘G. Grant. T. K. Guthrie, T. Julian, and AV. G. Borrie. Lieutenant Norman H. Hanna, coast defence detachment of the 3rd (Auckland) Regiment, has cabled from London, where lie arrived about a fortnight ago, that he has been attached to the Royal Horse Artillery.

Air. R. AV. Dalton, who has been appointed British Trade Commissioner Hi Now Zealand in succession to Mr. AY. G. Wieklihm. syrived in Auckland on Monday by the Niagara, Air. Dalton left LiVerpool on January 12, and en route to New Zealand made a short stay at New York, Toronto, and Vancomer. On Tuesday lie left for AA’olliugton, where ho will take up his residence.
