ON THE HIGH SEAS
AN OIL STEAMER SUNK. (Received Dec. 10, 8.5 a.ra.) ROME, Dec, 9. The Standard oil tank steamer Communipaw, with 15,000 tons of oil, bound from Genoa to Alexandria, has been sunk by a submarine near Tobruk. A search for survivors was fruitless. LOSS OF FRENCH SUBMARINE. (Received Dec. 10, 8.5 a.m.) LONDON, Deo. 9. Tho Admiralty states that the French submarine Fresnel was attacked when aground. Tho Austrians alleged that a big sailer had been sunk, but it was a ship of only thirty tons.
