MYSTERIOUS DISAPPEARANCE.
MANGOREI RESIDENT MISSING. Mr. Zaccheus W. Wells, a well-known resident of Alangoroi, lias been missing from his home since Monday afternoon. Mrs. Wells states that her husband was working in the garden close to the house on Monday morning, and he returned to the work in the afternoon. At •ADO p.m. Miss Brooks, who is living with Mrs. Wells, went into the garden to seo if Mr. Wells.was there and she found that he was missing. She returned to the house and reported tho matter to Mrs. Wells, but thinking he would turn up they mhdo no search then. Towards evening, however, there was still no sign of Mr. Wells, and they became anxious and a search was made in the neighbourhood, hut without result. Tho police are informed that Mr. Wells, who is 85 years of age, has b«m somewhat queer for the past nine mouths or more, and that he has lost ids memory. On one occasion, a lew months ago, ho wandered away and was found in a paddock nearly a mile from the house. Constable Wrobenski and a parly of farmers carried out a thorough search on 'Tuesday, hut without result. Mr. Wells is white haired, has a grey beard, is of fair complexion, medium ouild, about sft. Sin. in height, walks with a considerable stoop, has no tocth, had no coat on, but wore a tweed cap, a grey striped, flannel shirt, and dork tweed trousers. The search was continued to-day, but up to noon no trace had been found ot Mr. Wells.
