THE HOTEL BILL. 8T ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.—COPYRIGHT. SYDNEY, Dec. 3. The Hotel Bill was vigorously debated in the Legislative Council. Members , urged the necessity for controlling the ‘ traffic, particularly in the interests of soldiers, and the majority considered that the proposal to close at 10 o’clock was inadequate. The Government was charged with not meeting the position adequately and of being amid or vested interests. One member said that the only solution was to knock ont the Tested interests by nationalisation. STATE BREAD MONOPOLY. SYDNEY, Dec. 3. There is a strong feeling in business circles against the proposed State bread monopoly, which will involve a Government outlay of £400,000. Employers’ associations are combining to oppose what they consider a blow to business enterprises generally. A STRIKE ENDED. (Received Dec. 4, 8.40 a.m.) MELBOURNE, Dee. 4. The storemen and packers’ strike has ended, the men agreeing to an increase of sixpence a day. QUEENSLAND BUTTER PRICES. (Received Dec. 4. 8,40 a.m.) BRISBANE, Dec. 4. There will bo a. further increase in the price of butter to 156 s for first grade and 146 s 8d for second grade from Monday. ANOTHER STATE INDUSTRY. (Received Dec. 4, 10.50 a.m.) BRISBANE, Dec. 4. The Government has definitely decided to embark on hotelkeeping, and negotiations for several hotels are processing. -
