A Nelson telegram says that tho Waimca County Council has given a month’s notice to all single employees who have not enlisted, unless rejected- as medically unfit. Tho Stoko Fruitgrowers’ Association has arranged properly to attend to tho orcliards of enlisting orchard ists. , “Aotea,” Messrs. Solo Bros.’ beautiful grounds on the Avenue Road, will bo. open to the public on Sunday afternoon next, when a programme of sacred music will bo rendered by tho Citizens’ Band. No charge will bo made for admission, but a collection will bo taken up in aid of tho Herald Belgian and National Relief Funds. An energetic ladies’ committee have all arrangements in hand for providing afternoon tea and, given a fine day, a splendid opportunity is afforded of spending a pleasant afternoon amidst beautiful surroundings. Tho six tramcars lor tho overhead electric system at present being installed at New Plymouth have been built in Christchurch. They are now practically all completed, and the first two are to be shipped this week for tho north. It is expected that all tho cars will be delivered about Christmas rime.
