FROM OUB OWN COitRESI’ONDENX. . Dec. i. Last Saturday a school cricket team and its supporters travelled from hero to do battle w ith the New Plymouth High School Preparatory eleven. The game resulted in favour of the Preparatory team, with the score of 61 to Inglewood's 41. lor Inglewood, Thomson and Hamcrton (6 not out) were the best scores. Tho boys speak in glowing terms of the hospitality extended to them, and characterise the outing as the best they have had for a long time. On Tuesday night the Church of England celebrated its patroual festival (St. Andrew’s Day). At half-past / service was conducted by tho Rev, XL A, Favell. At the conclusion of the son'ice a social was held iu the -Parish Hall, when a competition, musical items, and dancing were tho order of tho evening’s amusements. A number of postcard pictures and photographs and advertisements minus the name of the commodity advertised were placed round tho hall, the competitors having to supply tho names of tho towns or goods represented, Tho lady’s prteo was won.by Miss E. Rolston, and .tho gentleman’s by Mr. 31. Ivcmpthorno. The brain-fag of tho competition was relieved by Miss Laurence (piano solo) and Messrs. M. Kcmpthornc and Cutler (songs) Tho remainder of tho evening was devoted to dancing, which was brought to a close by tho singing of tho National Anthem and tho giving of throe hearty cheers for the Rev. and Mrs. Kempthornc. Tho following have recruited during tho last few days:—Charles Trevors, Famish. A. T. Harmell, J, T. Mullin, C. H. Jones, and F. Coldwick.
