Sergt.-Alajnr Howard Seldon, who has been invalided from tho Dardanelles, has arrived in New Plymouth. Sir Joint Anderson, of the Colonial Office, lias been appointed Governor of Ceylon, and Sir George Fiddes, Assistant Fiulcr-Secretary for the Colonics, succeeds Sir John Anderson,
Air. Alex. Harris, AI.R. for Waitemata. has been accepted for service with the relief force for Samoa. He is a qualified wireless operator, and will servo in that capa^jty.
A farewell social was tendered to Lieutenant T. K. V. Seddon at Hokitika. on Momlav. The function was largely attended, representative men from all parts of the district being present. Liont. Sikldon was presented with an % address and a substantial cheque from the people of the district. The Hon. W. D. S. MacDonald made a short speech. Dr. George Lapraik, who has been in general practice at Thames for the last 1?0 years, lias been appointed to the New Zealand Auxiliary iijt.se Hospital, Alexandria, and is under orders to leave Wellington by the hospital ship Marama next week. ile has also received promotion to the rank of major, to which, lie is entitled for length of service, having served in the volunteer and forritoiial force for the past 16 j'cars.
