CENSORSHIP OF FILMS
PROAIISED BY AIR. RUSSELL. PEE PRESS ASSOCIATION. AA’ELLINGION, Dec. 2. A deputation from the conference convened by the Catholic Federation and representing forty-five councils and other bodies urging the censorship of cinema films, waited on the Hon. G. AV. Russell, Aliniscer of Internal Affairs. Tile Minister expressed himself in sincere agreement with the proposal and congratulated tho federation on the steps it had taken. . He said ho was prepared to recommend his colleagues next session to bring down tho necessary legislation to provide for tho establishment of a Board of Censors who would view every film at AVellmgton,. and making it a penal offence to exhibit anv film that the censors had banned. The proposal that women should be represented on the board would receive careful consideration. He had no doubt from his knowledge of the views of the Government that legislation would be introduced.
