THE SCENERY RESERVES BOARD
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Whoever is responsible for the selection of members of the recently constituted Scenery Reserves Board .'is deserving of the ‘ hearty eongngmjations of all who take an interest in such matters. A better board irtWould bo very hard to bring together, combining as it does the ripe experience of the veteran who has hail so much’ to do with the conservation of the beauty spots of the Dominion, with tho enthusiasm of younger men who realise the importance of saving from destruction our native Hera and those mementos of tho warlike race whose occupation of this fair land preceded ours. It is to be hoped, that this board will not be starved for want of a few pounds to carry out its work effectively. A very moderate outlay will enable it to clean up and protect the fine old Puketi pa, on the banks of the Henui, which is perhaps the most perfect of the many ancient fortifications in the neighbourhood of our town.— 1 am. etc.. LOOKER-ON.
