WINTER IN THE TRENCHES.
RENEWED HARDSHIPS IN THE WEST.
A BLIZZARD IN THE BALKANS.
LORD KITCHENER RETURNING HOME.
The early setting in of winter in Europe will much increase the hardships our men have to undergo, but last winter s experience will do much to make the conditions less trying. V\ e may be confident that our soldiers will be better fed and clothed than any others in the field. Even in the Balkans winter seems to have begun in earnest. There is no news of interest from any of the fronts. Lord Kitchener’s return home is evidence that the conditions in the east are not unfavourable. He has now first-hand knowledge of the position at the Dardanelles and at Salonika, which will he of the greatest value to the Amy Council.
