MEETING OF COMMITTEE,

A largely-attended meeting of the East End Bathing Reserve Committee was held at the pavilion on Monday evonng, Mr. P. J. Mannagan presiding. •I I ' e . so ' ut ' ol ? of Sympathy was passed with Mr. A. Christian, a member of the committee.

It was decided to write to the Ngamotu Committee expressing regret that they could not see_ tneir way to pool the proceeds of the New Year’s Day picnic with other foreshore improvement societies. The chairman expressed the opinion that it would have been a move in the right direction, * It was derided to hold the New Year’s Day picnic as usual, in conjunction with Caledonian societies of Taranaki. Various sub-oominittecs were appointed to arrange the sports programmes. It was decided to invite the Mayor and councillors to officialy open the pavilion on December 0, when they will be the guests of the committee. A .smoke concert will he. given in honour of the event.

It was decided to give a social and dance on Thursday evening, when a. presentation will be made to Mr. A. Hardgreaves, a member of the committee who is leaving shortly for the front.
