am. hoeman unnoted, BY- -LABOURf, • CISM, BT ELEOTBIC f^TELEGEAPH.—COPXBIOHI. (Received Nov. 19, 11.10 p.m.) SYDNEY, Noe. 19. The Assembly was incensed, at MlGardiner’s charge that the policy of the Government appeared to b© to increase the Salaries of highly-paid ofiL cials and ignore the lower grades. Mr. Holman said that in-the event of another similar speech he would have the speaker expelled from the Labour, Party or leave it himself. It was quite conceivable that the loss of Mr. Gardiner's vote, and the votes of others who felt like him would mean the over- ■ - throw of the Government, but that was a contingency ho was quite prepared readily to face. 'the Government would not have insulting _ support handed in with dirty 'insinuations against its sincerity, ■ LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL 1 ABOLITION. (Received Nov. 20, 5.30 a-m.) BRISBANE, Nov. 19. The Assembly passed.the second'reading of tho Legislative Council Abolition Bill by 38 votes to 17.
