SHOW STOCK SALE.

At the show stock sale being held on the Palmerston North Show Grounds, a special offering of pedigree Holstein cattle will be submitted on account ot Mr. Maitland Leith, of Invercargill, who owing to unforeseen circumstances is compelled to dispose of the whole of his select herd practically without reserve. The cows have been under semiofficial test and the records read; 5041 b., 5171 b,, 5361 b., and G6Glb. but- , tcr-fat for the season, performances which were registered in the cold cli i mate of Southland. Six of the animals, including the cows and two heifers, are from the famous Longbeach strain, and the throe-year-bull, "Longbeach Spot Domino,' 1 is also a pure Dutch. The heifers are from the above-tested dams, and have been sired by the famous bull "Longbeach Spot Domino.” who was shown 7 times, securing 6 firsts, 1 second, and 1 championship, and last year Mr. Leith at the Otago and Southland Shows secured out ot 12 entries 10 first prizes under good competition. The three yearling pedigree Jersey bulls to he offered on .account of Mr. F. E. Hellyer are by the well-known bull "Darkle Fox 2nd.” and have for their dam "Lady of Cpllingwood,” "Roses Sweet,” and "Eminent’s Sherry,” the first-named having been under semi-official tesfthree years in succession. as a 2, 3 and 4-year-old; her performances read and as 4-year-old she will show oyer 7001 b. butter-fat. thus stamping her as one of the best hntter-fat Jersey cows in the Dominion. The other two dams are also great butter-fat producers, and the sire, "Darkle Fox 2nd,” is proving himself a remarkably good dairv bull. A 3-year-old bull. "Prince of Canada.” to bo offered on account of Mr. N. P. Nielsen, was bred by Mr. T. R. Pearson, of Port Hammond, Canada, and is a nicely marked animal, in good condition, showing splendid dairy qualities. His dam. "Grehegga do Kol of Anndalc.” as a 3-year-old produced 13,7201 b. of milk, yielding 469 pounds of butter-fat. Of the three Holstein hulls to be offered on account of Mr. M. Remnant, two are by "Abberkerk Marquis of fiunnycroft.” and one by the .’wellknown bull "Pieterie Boy.” and the dams under sem-iofficial test have registered 4521 b., 5171 b., and 6321 b. respectively. The sale will commence at 9.30 a.tn. sharp, and will he conducted by Dalgety and Co., Ltd., auctioneers. Queen Street, Palmerston North.
