As the result of the compulsory conference the Broken Hill miners decided to accept a shilling rise and reference to the Arbitration Court, but will take a referendum on the advisability of stopping work at midnight on Friday in order to make a 44 hours’ week for engine-drivers and firemen. They accepted the conference terms withoutamendment.
