DEVON LINE.

TO IM EDITOB. Sir,—Just a line or two, with your permission, to allow me to compliment tho engineer, Mayor, and councillors on the splendid way the roads at Fitoroy have been kepi during tram construction. Not tho slightest effort has been made to keep the roads open. Knowing it would rain sooner or later good metal has been used to level up sections simply thrown away, when it could have been used with good effect. At the Waiwakaiho it is simply lovely. Why could not something have bn v done when the good spells of dry wca ther were on. I don’t think if they were asked to pay tho breakages on our motors they would say a word. Wo make our living on the road, and pay for it, and the least that could be done was to keep it in fair repair.—l am, etc., A. G. CRAWFORD. Waitara, September 5.
