KAPONGA DEFEAT WHAKATIKA. , for the ladies’ champion-; Bhip or iaranaki was played at Inglewood on Saturday, when Kaponga, winners m the southern division, met and defeated vvhakatika, the northern division winners, after a close and interesting game, by 2to 1. J n the first sped, Olga Wallach scored for Whakatika. In the second spell, Kaponga, who were playing one “man” short, altered the placing of their team, and this had the effect of making it very difficult for their opponents to penetrate the defence without infringing the off-side rule. More than once the Whakatika players found the net with good shots, but each time the score was disallowed owing to a breach of the scoring rule. The winners scored both their goals in the second spell. Messrs. Stephens and Rolleston were the referees.
