The New Plymouth Club hopes to play a match with Stratford on Thursday week, September 16. Those willing to take part are asked to hand in their names to the captain, Mr. A. Bewlcy. The semi-finals of the New Plymouth Club championship were set down for this afternoon, and the final of 36 holes will be played on Saturday next. The first round will bo got, off in tho morning, commencing about XI o’clock, and tho remaining 18. holes in the afternoon, starting about 2 o’clock. In the semi-finals for the Witiora Club - senior championship the winner between M'Allnm and Beal plays Elliott. and Haslam plays Sole. Witiora will probably play Tarahua on Thursday next, at Tarahua. The Christchurch .Cadies’ Golf Club this week held an open all-day tournament in aid of a hospital to be built in Serbia by the Ladies’ Golf Union in memory of Miss Neill Fraser. Tho qualifying rounds in the junior championship of the Witiora Club have resulted as follow;—Saturday; Hunter Booth 104, J. G. List 105, A. C. Lawrey 106, J. Robertson 108. Thursday: L. B, Stohr 93, C. H. Drew 97, A. L. Humphries 99, J. Johnson 104. The entrance fees for both senior and junior championships will be given to the Wounded Soldiers’ Fund. Three rounds have been played in the Medley Cup competition at Witiora, and the best aggregates at present are; V. H. Boal 233, C, M'Given 240, J. D. Sole 242. 0. Bayjy 247, A. K. 253, C. D. M'Alliim 259. One mofe round has yet to be played, and possibly it will be decided next week. On .Saturday Arthur Duncan established a new r record for the Miramar course, completing the round in 67. His card was:—Out: 5,3, 4,3, 4,4, 4,3, 4 —34. In; 3,3, o, 3,3, 3,5, 4, 4—33. This score is twelve strokes under ’the “bogey” for the course, and beats the' previous record (also by Mr. Duncan) by one stroke. It will bo noticed that the score does not contain a 2, and it is very unusual to see a score of anything like this without the help of a “lucky At Wellington on Saturday an “auction”, bogey handicap was played for tho patriotic fund, a novel condition being introduced, that competitors could “buy” additional strokes (not more than three) when entering. The amount realised for entrance fees was £5 11s. Golf is in full swing on the links at Wimeroux, four miles north of Boulogne. Civilian players arc, however, conspicuous by their absence. The course has been given over to the Australian Contingent, who are utilising the district as a base. There have been as many ns 40 players scon on the links during the course of a day. A golf links must prove a great blessing to the convalescents who have sufficiently recovered but are not yet fit for the firing line.
