Acting on the suggestion of the Taranaki Herald, the Red Dandies, who are billed for a season at the Theatre Royal next week, have consented to give a street performance here on Wednesday next in aid of the fund for the wounded soldiers and dependents. The performance will probably take the form of a short musical programme, interspersed with a mock trial of loading citizens for whatever offences the ingenuity of those conducting it can charge thorn with. In other towns much amusement has been extracted from similar proceedings, and substantial sums have been raised for various patriotic funds, and no doubt Now Ply- ' mouth will enter heartily and generously into the spirit of the affair.
